For our recognition events we plan a potluck breakfast. We plan our event one month in advance to ensure all staff can participate, especially part-timers and new staff. As the nominees are a surprise it is always fun to see who has been nominated. Our Executive Assistant always does a great job of coordinating pictures of the nominees and selecting music to make this an exciting announcement. The most memorable event was when we had 3 nominations and all 3 won awards: A Silver Award, A Gold Award and an RBC Performance Conference attendee.
It solidifies for all staff that what we do everyday makes a huge difference to our clients and our branch. New employees understand the link between their mandate and rewards. It reinforces the behaviors that are award-worthy and inspires us all to be on the next list of nominees. It also demonstrates that recognition is as simple as taking 2 minutes to jot down something and that it goes a long way. Of course having a VIP breakfast with all the fixings helps!
