This month’s guest:
Pamela Mansbridge,
Branch Manager, Pembina & Oakenwald Branch, Winnipeg, MB
RBC Performance - Thanks for chatting with us today Pamela. You’ve been managing the Pembina & Oakenwald Branch for over 7 years now, and you’ve been at other branches previously. What is behind your strong focus on teamwork and how do you use recognition to support that?
Pamela - Recognition is not only what motivates a team but also what allows us to work together cohesively as a unit. If we didn't know how we felt about each other, we wouldn't be successful as a group. Knowing that we genuinely care for each other and have each other’s backs is what makes this branch successful, and recognition allows us to express it and reinforce it.
RBC Performance - Can you provide examples of recognition-worthy collaborative efforts?
Pamela - True success comes from collaborating with others so we make sure we recognize things like Client Service Representatives making referrals, or Account Managers supporting a CSR whenever they can which in turn makes it easy for CSRs to introduce them to clients. It’s about working together daily as a team, not as individuals. That’s what we recognize.
RBC Performance - Can you detail what you mean by true success?
Pamela - True success isn’t being way out in front of the pack as an individual, but working together and collaborating really well. When we recognize an individual’s success we recognize how that supports the entire team. There’s an emotional connection people make when they see their contribution helping the team to succeed, which then in turn drives further collaboration.
